Teaching philosophy

The study of music has many benefits for all who participate. When students enjoy their music classrooms, it also increases their overall enjoyment of school.  Music teaches students to work hard and strive for perfection, a skill that easily transfers to any career field. Studies have shown that music students can score over 40 percent higher on the SAT than their non-musician friends.  Students who take part in music classes learn teamwork, creativity, passion, discipline, and dedication – vital qualities in any walk of like.

As a private lesson instructor, it is my job to supplement and support the instruction given to students in the music classroom, or to possibly serve as the primary music instructor to students who are not

able to study music during the school day. To help accomplish this, I strive to show compassion, trust, and dedication to my students just as I expect them to show these qualities to one another.  Ultimately however I desire to instill in my students a life-long love of music. My flute teachers made that the number one priority in each lesson. Now, it is my responsibility to share that passion with the next generation.
